JUST START
So often we think we have to have the perfect set up and plan. This kept me from starting so many times. Just start, and learn from there.
SPACE
You may think you need a sacred/special space to practice, and special supplies. You certainly can have these things, but they aren't necessary. Truth is, you will know more about what you want once you get started.
REMEMBER YOUR WHY
Write down why you are doing this. Clearer mind, creating a life you love, better health, all of the above. Coming back to your why helps you dedicate to yourself. Otherwise, it's all to easy to give this time to someone or something else other than yourself.
TIME
Create rhythm over scheduled times. I have a morning routine when I get up. I am able to shorten it when needed, lengthen it if I have time, and just make it work for me. No time is better than another. Some times to consider are morning, after work, evening. Also SMALL things daily are greater than BIG things once in a while.
TRACK YOUR HABITS
Use an app (I love Insight Timer) or write it down daily in your calendar/planner.
SUPPORT GROUP/ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER
Find someone to join you or get a support group.
LET GO OF EXPECTATIONS & GIVE YOURSELF GRACE
When trying to implement something new, give yourself time to play and figure it out for you. We learn from experiencing. Get curious about what works best for you. Let yourself enjoy the learning process.
BE YOU
You don't have to do things the same exact way as everyone else. It is great to learn from others and then take what works for you and use it. BE YOU! You got this!
For the guided listening practices I recommend listening with earbuds or headphones if you can. No worries if you can't. Get comfy, and remember- no worries if thoughts pop in. You're human, and that will happen.
If the listening practices are hard, try moving your body some before settling in for the guided listening.
